Free Limited Ultrasound – What to Expect

Confirm your pregnancy, estimate how far along you are, and check for potential complications — all with a free limited ultrasound at Napa Women’s Center. Performed by trained sonographers in a private, caring environment.

What We Check

Your Limited Ultrasound Includes

Confirm Viable Pregnancy

We’ll verify that your pregnancy is developing inside your uterus and detect a fetal heartbeat if you’re far enough along. This gives you crucial information about the health of your pregnancy.

Estimate Gestational Age

By measuring your baby’s size, we can estimate how many weeks pregnant you are. This helps you understand your options and timelines more accurately.

Check for Ectopic Pregnancy

A limited ultrasound can help rule out an ectopic pregnancy, which is a serious medical condition. Early detection is key to protecting your health.

What Happens During Your Ultrasound

You’ll lie comfortably on a padded table while a trained sonographer applies a warm gel to your lower abdomen. Using a handheld transducer, they will glide it gently across your skin to capture images on a screen. The scan is painless and usually takes about 15–20 minutes. Afterward, a nurse will explain the results and answer any questions you have.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need insurance for a free limited ultrasound?
No. All of our services are completely free and confidential. You do not need insurance or any form of payment.
How should I prepare for my ultrasound?
Drink plenty of water beforehand and arrive with a full bladder — this helps the sonographer get clearer images. Please avoid using the restroom until after the scan.
What does a limited ultrasound check?
It confirms a viable intrauterine pregnancy, estimates gestational age, and screens for signs of an ectopic pregnancy. It is not a diagnostic medical scan.
How long does the appointment take?
Plan for about 45 minutes total. The ultrasound itself takes 15–20 minutes, with time for a brief consultation before and after.
